LeFevre Fellowships

The LeFevre Fellowship is a prestigious award for high-ability students interested in service learning. Students receive a $1,500 scholarship for 60 hours of service to the community. In the fall, they enroll in a two-credit-hour service learning course in which they develop their service projects, to be carried out in the winter and spring quarters. In previous years, fellows’ projects have included participating in college-awareness programs for Newark City students and educating the community about barriers to college access.

The Ohio State Newark Honors Advisory Council selects LeFevre Fellows on the basis of applicants' academic record and leadership experience.

To be considered for the Lefevre Fellowship, students must have a college GPA of 3.2 and be enrolled full-time at Ohio State Newark. Incoming freshman may also apply. To apply, submit a personal statement of no more than 250 words explaining why you want to be a LeFevre Fellow and how a service-learning experience might fit into your college plan or major. Applications for the 2012-13 academic year are due July 1; acceptance emails will go out by Aug. 1.
