Secondary English Education Pre-Licensure Program:
At Ohio State University, licensure in Integrated Language Arts requires completion of the Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in English, followed by admission to and completion of the M.Ed. degree in Integrated Language Arts. The B.A. in English and all content area requirements for Integrated Language Arts licensure can be completed at Ohio State Newark. The M.Ed. in English Education, which includes all required teaching experience and pedagogy coursework, is available only at the Columbus campus.

Social Studies Pre-Licensure Programs:
In Ohio, licensure to teach History and Social Studies in grades 7-12 is combined in one licensure area: Integrated Social Studies. At Ohio State University, licensure in Integrated Social Studies requires completion of the B.A. in Education, followed by admission to and completion of the Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree in Integrated Social Studies. The B.A. in History, or in the Personalized Study Program (PSP) in Integrated Social Studies, may be completed at Ohio State Newark. The content areas necessary for licensure may be fulfilled through careful enrollment in one of three majors: History, Political Science, or a PSP in Integrated Social Studies. The History and Political Science majors require additional coursework in the area of the major, in addition to the courses required for licensure. In both programs, elective hours are extremely limited. The PSP is an interdisciplinary program with a specific focus on courses required for licensure; it allows a little more room for electives.

The M.Ed. in Social Studies and Global Education, which includes all required teaching experience and pedagogy coursework, is available only at the Columbus campus.
