October 10-October 16
“The geographical pilgrimage is the symbolic acting out of an inner journey. The inner journey is the interpolation of the meanings and signs of the outer pilgrimage. One can have one with the other. It is best to have both."—Thomas Merton
Dr. Bradley Lepper, Curator of Archaeology at the Ohio Historical Society has theorized that there was once a pilgrimage road between the mound complex near present day Chillicothe and the mound complex near present day Newark, which he calls the “Great Hopewell Road.” This year a group of walkers travel a close approximation of the “Great Hopewell Road,” a 70 mile trek. Please join us for the entire walk, a day, a few hours and/or by the evening campfire.
The public is welcome at all events!
