Dr. James F. Loucks received his B.A. from Yale University in 1957 and his Ph.D. from The Ohio State University in 1967. His first university teaching position was at the University of Virginia, followed by Drexel University, then Valparaiso University, where he chaired the English Department before being appointed University Professor in 1974. In 1977 he came to OSU-Newark as Associate Dean under Dean-Director Robert Barnes. The following year he became Assistant Vice President for Registration Services at OSU-Columbus Campus, directing the Office of Admissions and the Office of the University Registrar. In 1983 he returned to the faculty of OSUN. His main teaching and research interests are 19th- and 20th-century British literature; his current research focuses on the life and work of T. S. Eliot. Among his publications are a book on Robert Browning (co-authored with Rickard Altick); the Norton Critical Edition of Robert Browning’s Poetry, a second edition of which is being prepared with co-editor Andrew Stauffer of Boston University.  Dr. Loucks is also completing a book on T.
