Stephanie Brown

Stephanie Brown came to OSU-Newark after five years in Manhattan and four overseas, but, as a native Midwesterner, feels very much at home surrounded by cornfields. (She spent her own undergrad years at the U. of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.) From 2001 to 2003, she taught courses in American Studies at a small university in the former East Germany, and it was there that she came to love the closeness and immediacy that were a part of working with a small core group of highly motivated students of English.

Her field is twentieth-century American literature, but she specializes in African-American literature and culture, and plans to teach as many courses in this area as possible in coming years.
