Steps to Attend Columbus Campus

Columbus Course Announcements and Suggestions
An appointment with your Newark advisor is recommended before going to Columbus.
- Request a change of campus at the reception desk in the Admissions and Advising office, or ask any advisor to change your campus.
- If you are eligible, you may also transfer to your degree-granting college
- (see your advisor, there will be a transfer form or application to complete) OR
- If you continue in Undergraduate Student Services (USS), see your Newark advisor for a referral to the Exploration Program in Columbus. Your college office will be in Denney Hall, Room 352, 164 W. 17th Ave., 614-292-0646
- If you are an Honors student with scheduling priority, contact your Newark Campus advisor in order to maintain your priority status at the Columbus Campus.
- If you are receiving services from the Newark Campus Office of Disability Services (http://newark.osu.edu/studentlife/ODSindex.asp), contact that office to authorize the transfer of your records. For information about receiving services at the Columbus Campus, visit www.ods.ohio-state.edu.
- Register for courses online
- Register as soon as possible after your window opens
- Use Columbus Campus call numbers
- Make sure you have the prerequisites met for each course
- Be prepared with back-up choices (the course you want may be full)
- Some departments have special procedures in place for getting into full sections: Math
- Check the Fee Information on your Registration Notice; confirm your fee options (health insurance, charitable contributions, and automobile registration) when your schedule
- if you fail a Winter course that is a prerequisite for a Spring course, it is your responsibility to adjust your schedule
- Request a dormitory contract using the application form (available in the Advisement Office)
- Return your contract as soon as possible
- Be sure all roommates note all other roommates' names
- For help in finding an apartment or getting situated as a commuter student, call or stop in the Off-Campus Student Services office, Ohio Union Room 342 (292-0100)
- If you plan to drive to Columbus campus, request registration for your car when you register for classes (see above) or by calling Traffic & Parking (292-9341). Or better yet, check out COTA's bus schedules from your house to main campus. OSU students ride for free with an ID!
- Change your address by notifying the OSU records office (at Newark) or online
- After your campus change has been approved and/or processed, confirm your new advisor's name. If it is incorrect, or if you're not sure how to contact your new advisor, see your OSU-N advisor.
- In most cases, schedule adjustments in Columbus are handled the same way as in Newark. Permission slips can be obtained and turned in at your college office.
