During the early part of the 2009-2010 school year, students at both The Ohio State University at Newark and Central Ohio Technical College expressed a strong interest in bringing a football team to our great campus.
In response to this request, a highly motivated group of students founded a club football student organization on January 7, 2010. Though it is not an official NCAA team, club football is a great way to introduce a college football atmosphere to both Ohio State Newark and COTC, as well as Newark and the surrounding Licking County area. The team finished its inaugural season with a 4-6 overall record, including wins in its final two games.
Club Football is open to any student enrolled in at least one credit hour at either Ohio State Newark or COTC. Since this is a club, it is student-led, student-run, and student-goverened. All costs are covered by club members through fundraising efforts, club membership dues, and sponsorships/donations. Games are regular tackle football played under NCAA rules and are played against other competitive club football teams from the Midwestern Club Football Conference, as well as NAIA, NJCAA, and NCAA JV teams. Interested players are encouraged to check our website regularly for updates and/or contact the club officers for more information.
