New program to dress students for success

Central Ohio Technical College (COTC) and The Ohio State University at Newark have collaborated with Licking/Knox Goodwill Industries on a creative program that provides professional clothing to job-seeking students.

As a part of the partnership, Goodwill supplies vouchers that COTC and Ohio State Newark students can use to purchase attire for job interviews, career fairs, academic conferences and internships.

“The right outfit doesn’t just change how you look — it also changes how you feel,” said Tim Young, Licking/Knox Goodwill Industries CEO and vice chair of COTC’s alumni council. “I hope that providing professional clothing for education, interviews and every day on the job will help inspire these future leaders.”

Eight vouchers are made available each month and are distributed by the campus’ Office of Student Life. Students can redeem them online or at any of the 10 Goodwill retail stores that span the two counties.

“Goodwill has long been a valuable partner to the Newark community, and we deeply appreciate their dedication to supporting our students,” said Tim Goetz, career development manager for both COTC and Ohio State Newark. “It’s an investment that will have a lasting positive impact on both their futures and the strength of our community.”

This program is the latest example of both institutions’ commitment to developing career-ready graduates and creating meaningful community partnerships.

“Everyone deserves the support they need to help find the job they want,” Young said. “It takes a village, and we are fortunate enough to have a whole campus of talented individuals to help make career dreams come true.”
