Student organizations can be an important part of your growth during your college career. Not only do they provide the resources needed to succeed in the world, they can give you some of the best people you’ve ever met, building friendships that last a lifetime.

Academic

Persuasive Speaking and Communication Club (PSCC)

PSCC aims to help members improve their confidence in public speaking, understand the fundamentals of persuasive speaking, and provide a space to freely practice presentation and presentation techniques.

Pre-Health Professions Club

The mission of the Pre Health Professions Club is to assist pre-med, pre-dental, pre-pharmacy, and pre-physical therapy tracks in forming an academic plan, finding clinical experience, and building their resumes.

Psychology Club

The objectives and purposes of the Psychology Club are to promote, enhance and further develop educational and social achievements and interests in psychology, influence the conditions under which prospective members are begin prepared for their professional role in society, and advance the interest and welfare of the prospective members. Activities sponsored by introspect including community service, volunteer work, bake sales, cookouts, ice skating, bonfires, bowling, movie nights and attending research conferences.

Radiology Student Organization

The Radiology Student Organization is an academic and social group open to all those enrolled in the Radiologic Science Technology program and all Newark Campus students interested in radiology.

Students Engaged in Nursing (SEIN)

SEIN is dedicated to providing members with service and community engagement opportunities, creating social connections, informing members about the OSU nursing program, and exploring the subcategories of nursing for career development.

THE Engineering Technology Association

THEETA helps future engineers by creating a networking platform for BSET Engineers. Although the group does work to grow the community of Engineering Technology students at The Ohio State University, the group is open to students at COTC as well.

CAB works together to brainstorm, discuss and plan social activities for the COTC and Ohio State Newark campus community.

Faith-Based

Cru Campus Ministry

The purpose of Cru is to help to fulfill the Great Commission in the power of the Holy Spirit by winning people to faith in Jesus Christ, building them in their faith and sending them to win and build others.

Journey Campus Ministry

Journey Campus Ministry is a unified body of students dedicated to the search for God’s purpose in our lives. This often means that we cannot be followers; rather, that we must set ourselves apart from what is considered to be the norm or present-day trend. We welcome all who want to obey what Jesus called the greatest two commandments; to love God and one another.

Honorary

Phi Theta Kappa (PTK)

Each semester, eligible students meeting the minimal academic requirements will be invited to join COTC’s Alpha Theta Zeta chapter of Phi Theta Kappa. Membership provides opportunities for leadership, access to scholarships, fellowship and community service.

Psi Chi

Psi Chi is an international honor society whose purpose shall be to encourage, stimulate and maintain excellence in scholarship of the individual members in all fields, particularly in psychology, and to advance the science of psychology.

African Student Association

The African Student Association (ASA) welcomes everyone with a willingness to learn about the African culture. ASA has the goal of creating a positive and fun vibe on campus while promoting and maintaining African culture, raising awareness at Ohio State Newark and COTC. Their vision is to empower, teach and unite African students and every student on campus.

Pride Out Loud

Pride Out Loud establishes an all-inclusive alliance for the COTC and Ohio State Newark community to provide a safe and supportive environment for the exploration of issues pertaining to sexual orientation and gender identity. The group will provide an environment that encourages social support for students, faculty and staff who may be dealing directly with such issues and to encourage social ties with other supportive students, faculty and staff.

Service

Help Our Planet Earth (HOPE) Club

HOPE Club enriches and enhances the university/college experience for students by providing the opportunity to assemble and create positive change on campus and within the Newark community, integrate the two communities and improve the atmosphere of the campus and Newark community while offering leadership and service opportunities to the Ohio State Newark and COTC students.

Little Steps, Big Dreams

Little Steps, Big Dreams in a Newark Campus organization dedicate to providing immediate essentials and compassionate support to homeless, pregnant, and single mothers — and their children — by connecting them with clothing, food, diapers, school supplies, and other necessities.

Special Interest

Active Minds

Active Minds is dedicated to saving lives and to building strong campus culture and communities. Through education, research, advocacy and a focus on young adults. The group is opening up the conversation about mental health and creating lasting changed in the way mental health is talked about, cared for, and valued at The Ohio State University at Newark and Central Ohio Technical College. We believe no one should have to struggle alone. By empowering young adults to speak openly about mental health, we can reduce stigma, encourage help seeking, and prevent suicides.

American Sign Language Student Organization

ASLSO provides a space for students to engage with one another through ASL, to promote deaf cultural awareness and to broaden ASL skills through campus and community engagement activities.

Color Guard Club at Newark

The Color Guard Club at Newark is a group dedicated to fostering an environment where members can pursue their passion for color guard, educate others on technique and performance etiquette, and write and perform color guard routines.

Crochet Club

The Crochet Club provides a social outlet outside of the classroom for students to gather together and create handmade items. The organization also recognizes the group as an opportunity to boost the mental health of its members, allowing for a lifelong passion for the arts and providing a way to give back to the local community with handmade items.

Investing Club at Ohio State Newark 

The mission of the Investing Club at Ohio State Newark is to provide students with the opportunity to participate in real-time, simulated trading, learning investing techniques and information, and investigate career opportunities in the field.
