About this event

Help us celebrate Newark history.

Ohio State Newark  and Central Ohio Technical College are participating in the Ohio Goes to the Movies campaign, a statewide celebration showcasing Ohio’s place in the history of American film.

Join us for a free screening of “Johnny Shiloh.” It’s a 1963 Disney television film about Johnny Clem, who ran away from his Newark home at age 11 to join the Union Army during the Civil War. He’s the namesake of John Clem Elementary School in Newark.

Doors open at 1:30 p.m. Hear a compelling presentation about Johnny Clem’s life and legacy at 2 p.m. Then settle in for the screening of “Johnny Shiloh” at 2:30 p.m.

No registration needed. All children in attendance will receive a complimentary snack and goodie bag.
