Homecoming

Homecoming is an Ohio State tradition dating back to 1922. In 2011, regional campuses first began participating with their own Homecoming Court. These students participate in the Ohio State Newark Homecoming celebration as well as Ohio State's annual Homecoming Week.

Homecoming Court

Court members are chosen based on their leadership qualities, spirit, integrity, and achievement through their contributions and involvement at Ohio State. The court selection process begins with an online application. After review of application materials, top applicants will be invited for individual interviews with Ohio State faculty, staff, and alumni. The scores from the application and interview are combined to determine the members of the Homecoming Court.

The students selected for the Homecoming Court represent Ohio State Newark during Homecoming weekend in Columbus. On Friday, the Court attends a coronation ceremony and Homecoming parade. Saturday, they attend a toast with university leadership prior to the Ohio State football Homecoming game.
