The Ohio State University at Newark

July 3rd Concert & Fireworks

The Ohio State University at Newark and Central Ohio Technical College, after closely monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic and considering all federal, state and local health regulations, have determined that this event is cancelled for 2021.

The annual family-friendly event, jointly sponsored by COTC, Ohio State Newark and the Gilbert Reese Family Foundation, has been a long-standing free gift to the community.

"This celebration has become a family tradition that is enjoyed by many generations – and each year it seems to get a little larger. We recognize that many people will be disappointed, which makes this decision difficult to share. The responsibility to ensure we are doing our best with the information and guidelines available to support the health and safety of our students, employees and community members is our top priority," -- Ohio State Newark Dean/Director William L. MacDonald, PhD.

The Annual Independence Day Alumni Celebration held simultaneously with the public fireworks event is reserved for COTC and Ohio State Alumni and their guests. It is also cancelled for 2021.

We appreciate everyone who has supported this event in the past.

We are especially grateful to The Reese Family Foundation, COTC and Ohio State Newark for making this one-of-a-kind community event possible.
