Brad Shumaker

Initial Appointment: 2 years (July 1, 2025–June 30, 2027)

Brad Shumaker, president of Shumaker Commercial Real Estate, joined The Ohio State University at Newark Advisory Board in summer 2025. A Newark High School graduate, he has deep local roots and a personal connection to the Newark campus, having begun his college education there before completing his degree in business at Ohio State's Columbus campus in 1984. He later earned an MS in Operations from the Marine Corps University and an MS in National Security Studies from the National War College.

His distinguished 29-year career in the Marine Corps culminated in the rank of colonel and included roles such as coordinating military response operations at the Pentagon during 9/11. Post-military, he excelled in consulting within the oil and gas industry before returning to Granville to start his own commercial real estate business. Additionally, he is actively engaged in the community through the Newark Lions Board, the Licking County Board of Realtors and Newark Rotary.
