Annual alumni and friends Homecoming dinner

The Ohio State University at Newark is hosting its annual Alumni and Friends Homecoming Dinner on Thursday, Oct. 24 beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the John Gilbert Reese Center. This event is free and open to all Ohio State alumni and invited guests.

The celebration includes a dinner, entertainment and a presentation of the Ohio State Newark Distinguished Alumni Award and the Homecoming Court. The evening will also include a silent auction to benefit the Ohio State Newark Alumni Scholarship.

Distinguished speakers include the new Ohio State Newark Dean and Director Matthew J. Smith, PhD, and Aaron Parry, a former Ohio State football player and member of the 2014 National Championship team. Smith formerly served as dean of the College of Humanities and Behavioral Sciences at Radford University, where he was also a professor of communications. A bona fide football champion, Parry played center for NCAA Division I National Champion Ohio State Buckeyes. He was also recognized for his leadership abilities with acceptance to the Bert L. Wolstein Leadership Academy.

All guests must be 21 years or older. IDs will be checked at the door. Guests will receive a wristband and two complimentary drink tickets. Registration is required. RSVP by Friday, Oct. 11 at go.osu.edu/newarkhomecoming2024.

  • 5:30 p.m.: Doors open
  • 6 p.m.: Dinner buffet
  • 6:45 p.m.: Program with welcome remarks from Matthew J. Smith, PhD, and keynote remarks from Aaron Parry
