Pandemic Players to present video performance of The Tragedy of Macbeth

December 3, 2020

The Pandemic Players of The Ohio State University at Newark’s Black Box Theater will present A Zoom Reader’s Theater of The Tragedy of Macbeth by William Shakespeare. Edited and directed by Edie L. Norlin, the link to the Zoom video-recorded performance will be available for free in mid-December at go.osu.edu/blackboxtheater.

Appearing in the production are Tim Smith as Macbeth; Wendy Hartman as Lady Macbeth; Peter Lepper as Malcolm; Brad Lepper as Macduff; and Suzanne Bressoud, Shelby Gambill and Danielle Gassman as the Witches.

The five-act tragedy was written in 1606–07 and first published in the First Folio of 1623. The play chronicles the rise of 11th century Macbeth from military leader to King of Scotland, whose seizing of power and subsequent destruction are the result of his blind ambition. One of the darkest of Shakespeare’s plays, the show features some of the most iconic roles in Western Theater. Macbeth is also one of the shortest and most accessible of his works.
