Apply as an incoming freshman

Follow these step-by-step instructions to apply to Ohio State Newark.

Submit your application

Complete the admission application for regional campus freshmen, and select Newark as your regional campus.

Submit official transcripts

Submitting high school transcripts when applying is optional for most applicants (you’ll submit your final transcript after receiving an admissions decision). However, if you're interested in being considered for merit scholarships, ask your school counselor to send your transcript, including your senior year courses, to Ohio State (electronically, if possible).

How to submit your transcripts:

Transcripts should be sent electronically, if possible, to: ugdocs@osu.edu.

If electronic delivery is not possible, have transcript(s) mailed to:

The Ohio State University
Undergraduate Admissions
P.O. Box 182646
Columbus, OH 43218-2646

Submit ACT, SAT, AP or IB test scores (optional)

Submission of test scores is optional but strongly encouraged for scholarship consideration and to determine placement testing requirements.

An official score report must be on file with Ohio State if you wish to have the scores used to determine placement testing requirements. Scores reports must be sent electronically from the testing organization to Ohio State to be considered an official score report. Once received, score reports should be posted to a student’s record within one to two business days.

  • Be sure to keep any confirmations received by the testing agency in case a score report is not received in an appropriate amount of time, so you have proof of requesting it.
  • Scores listed on high school transcripts or images of test score reports are not accepted by the university.

Homeschool students

ACT or SAT score report is required. If the ACT or SAT was not taken, Ohio State needs an “excuse from attendance” letter or verification document provided by the local school superintendent that your student was approved for homeschooling (for each year it took place). This letter must be sent from the school district with the student’s name on the letter.

Students with a degree from a non-chartered high school

ACT, SAT or GED score is required.
