10th Annual Community Intercultural Relations Conference to Address Economic Divide

Central Ohio Technical College (COTC) and The Ohio State University at Newark’s Community Intercultural Relations Committee will hold the 10th Annual Community Intercultural Relations Conference with the aim to bring our community together to develop a critical awareness of the economic challenges of today that are factors in such recent spikes in homelessness and impoverishment in Licking County and beyond.

Border Wall Photo Exhibit on the Road

The Ohio State University at Newark Associate Professor of Geography Kenneth Madsen’s extensive collection of photographs and maps of the U.S. – Mexico border fences and walls previously displayed in the LeFevre Art Gallery during the autumn semester has hit the road. The collection, Up Close with U.S. – Mexico Border Barriers, has been split up to be displayed at the Dayton International Peace Museum and Sinclair College also located in Dayton, Ohio.

Members of the community are invited to participate in One Book, One Community, a free community book club hosted by Ohio State Newark and Central Ohio Technical College (COTC) in partnership with the public library systems of Licking County. Participants will read A Well-Behaved Woman: A Novel of the Vanderbilts by bestselling author Therese Anne Fowler, and then meet for a discussion and book signing with the author to kick off National Library Week on Sunday, April 7, 1-3 p.m.

Ohio State Newark to Host Author of New Memoir, Panel of Female Writers

The Ohio State University at Newark will welcome Bridgett Davis to celebrate the release of her compelling new memoir, The World According to Fannie Davis: My Mother’s Life in the Detroit Numbers. The award-winning fiction writer will read from her book on Thursday, Feb. 28, at 7 p.m. in room 126 (performance platform) of the John L. and Christine Warner Library and Student Center. Davis will also participate in a panel discussion on Friday, Mar. 1, at noon with fellow writers Karen Thomas and Rhoda McKinney-Jones in the Dr. Donald G. and Patsy P. Jones Event Center located in Jane C. and William T. McConnell Hall.
