Returning to Ohio State?

If you have been on a Leave of Absence and are returning to Ohio State, please complete the following steps:

  1. Schedule an appointment with the advisor for the major you are interested in pursuing. This should take place about two months prior to the beginning of the semester in which you intend to return. To set up an appointment, please call 740-366-9333.
  2. Reactivate your email account if necessary. If you have forgotten your password for accessing your email, visit my.osu.edu or call 614-688-HELP (4357) to update your access to buckeyelink.osu.edu and your Ohio State email.
  3. Once you’ve reactivated your account, watch for an email regarding residency. Follow instructions and carefully respond to avoid complications with residency status.
  4. If you attended another institution while you were away from Ohio State, please bring an unofficial copy of your transcripts to assist with scheduling courses. You should also send your official transcripts to Ohio State following the instructions on this page.

Reinstatement

If you were academically dismissed from the university and wish to return, you may pursue a Reinstatement Petition. You must meet with an academic advisor to begin the petition process. Please call 740-366-9333 to schedule an appointment with the advisor for the major you are interested in pursuing.

Deadlines for submitting all petition materials are as follows:

For autumn semester return: July 1st
For spring semester return: November 1st
For summer semester return: April 1st
