Appointments

Low, John L., has been elected to the Board of Trustees for the Chicago History Museum for a four-year term. Low, an enrolled citizen of the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians, is the first American Indian to be invited to serve on the board since its founding in 1856.

Lerner, Mitchell, has been elected as vice president/president-elect of the Society for Historians of American Foreign Relations (SHAFR). He takes office on Nov. 1 and will serve a one-year term as vice president before ascending to the presidency in November 2023.

Toth, Lucille, has been accepted as one of the mentors for the 2022-23 Global Arts + Humanities Discovery Theme's Imagined Future Community of Practice. Her appointment begins on Nov. 1, 2022, and ends on Aug. 15, 2023.

Weiser, Elizabeth was re-elected as the only American to a three-year term on the Executive Board of the International Committee for Museology (ICOFOM), a unit of the 45,000-member International Council of Museums, based in Paris, France. In that role she will serve as managing editor for ICOFOM publications, producing its biannual journals, conference proceedings, and several monographs.

Awards

Dueñas, Alcira, received the Diversity Enhancement Faculty Award presented by the College of Arts and Sciences at The Ohio State University.

Morris, Tiyi, and Thomas, Mary, The Ohio Prison Education Exchange Project has been selected by the Office of Outreach and Engagement to receive the 2022 University Community Partnership Award. Ohio State's University Outreach and Engagement Awards honor faculty, staff, students and community partners for outstanding achievement in producing engaged scholarship and community impact.
