Education

Ohio State Newark prepares future teachers and supports the professional development of current teachers. Complete your bachelor's degree in primary education with licensure.

Degree

Bachelor of Science in Education

Major: Primary education (P–5)

With a major in primary education, a student can earn both a bachelor's degree and an Ohio teaching license simultaneously, to teach pre-k to fifth grade.

The Primary Education (P-5) program is committed to working for social justice and excellence for all children. Our training prepares students to think critically and reflectively while teaching in inventive ways that meet the needs of all learners. Students engage in experiences in schools throughout the metropolitan Columbus area that span the pre-k to fifth-grade license and promote inquiry-based, cooperative learning strategies. Upon successful completion of the program, you will be recommended for a teaching license through the Ohio Department of Education.

Education Minor

The education minor is for students who wish to explore education as a possible career choice or may be interested in studying current issues in the field as well as learning more about schools and schooling in today’s society. Coursework required to complete the education minor is available at Ohio State Newark.
