FRESHMEN

Please submit the following when applying to The Ohio State University at Newark as a freshman:

  • Completed Regional Campus Application for Freshmen and select Newark as your regional campus
  • $60 Application Fee
  • Official High School Transcripts – sending your high school transcripts electronically is the quickest and easiest way for us to receive them. Please have your official high school transcripts emailed to esue-studugt@osu.edu.
  • If you would like to send your official ACT or SAT scores from the testing agency for scholarship consideration, please do so. However, they are not required for admission.

TRANSFER

If you have enrolled in any college courses AFTER high school, you are considered a transfer student.

If you are an Ohio resident, you may apply for admission to a regional campus. If you have earned at least a 2.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) on your college course work, we will review your academic performance in college to determine your eligibility for admission. Please visit transferology.com to view how your completed coursework may transfer to Ohio State.

COLLEGE CREDIT PLUS - THE ACADEMY

The Ohio State Academy Program allows talented high school students to enroll in coursework while still in high school.

The Academy program is the Ohio State implementation of the state of Ohio's “College Credit Plus” program. It is a partnership between Ohio State, the high school and the student and his or her family. The Academy program allows high school students to earn college credit. The student will have an official college transcript and college credit that can be put toward a degree program.

MILITARY AND VETERAN

Transitioning from the military to college can be overwhelming, but being proactive will help it be a smooth one.

Determine if you are applying as a freshman (you have taken no college courses after graduating high school) or a transfer student(you have taken college courses after high school), then follow the admission instructions above for that student type.

  • You can still attend college even if the VA has determined that you can no longer work.
  • Anyone who receives benefits could be eligible for the Work Study Program.
  • Former National Guard and Reserve members could be eligible for Post 9/11 VA education benefits.
  • Your military training could transfer into college credits.
  • Your benefits do NOT disqualify you from additional federal student aid.
  • Disability ratings do not determine your need for accommodations in the classroom.
  • The state of Ohio has scholarships available to children of disabled and deceased veterans.
  • If you have qualified disability ratings from the VA, your dependents could be eligible for financial education assistance.

CONTINUING EDUCATION

If you would like to take Ohio State courses, but not pursue a degree, you would be considered a Continuing Education (CEd) student.

Generally, domestic students who are eligible for admission to CEd must demonstrate the following academic achievements:

  • Graduation from high school or a GED
  • A cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale for all previous university-level coursework
  • NOTE: If you don’t have at least a 2.0 GPA, please provide a written explanation and transcripts from all institutions attended, along with
  • your CEd application.
  • Be in good standing with other colleges or universities attended
In addition, applicants must:


  • Be at least 24 years of age, have a bachelor’s degree, or have been out of high school for at least four years
    OR
  • Be in a degree-granting program at another university and wish to transfer Ohio State credit back to that institution.

GRADUATE NONDEGREE

If you are seeking graduate-level credit, but are not enrolled in a Graduate Program, you should apply as a Graduate Nondegree (GND) student.

Please submit the following to apply as a GND student:


  • Completed Graduate Nondegree online application
  • $60 application fee
  • A copy of your undergraduate diploma or final college transcripts showing your undergraduate graduation date. These will need to be
  • electronically saved or scanned and uploaded to your online application.
  • Please make sure to list the course(s) you wish to take on the application where indicated.

If a student is 60+ they can take part in Program 60 (P60).

Ohio residents age 60 or older are invited to enrich their lives by experiencing a tuition-free lifelong learning opportunity at The Ohio State University at Newark. Enjoy the experience of interacting with college instructors and students and attend classes on a noncredit/non-degree basis.
