The event is designed to prepare students for their summer orientation sessions. They participated in informational workshops, met with financial aid and academic advisors, and received campus and housing tours from current Ohio State Newark students.
“This is our biggest event for obvious reasons,” said Wes Grunden, Ohio State Newark director of enrollment. “We're celebrating students who’ve indicated that they want to be here and be a part of this great community. We want to deliver on that and make sure that they feel like they're part of our family.”
The day delivered many opportunities to bask in Buckeye spirit. Brutus mingled with the masses in the morning. Ohio State superfan Big Nut showed up and snapped some selfies at the celebration station.
“We really wanted to make sure they felt the Ohio State energy,” said Grunden. “I saw a lot of smiles on faces.”
He hopes those smiles return once orientation starts in early June. Until then, new Ohio State Newark students seem content carrying the impression left on them by Admitted Student Day.
“I had an incredible experience,” said Luke Lovett, a future engineering major at Ohio State Newark. “I got to ask all my questions, and I feel so safe and confident coming to Newark next semester.”
Students who are still interested in applying for the autumn semester can submit an online application through July 15.
