Student Research and Scholarship Forum Winners

The Ohio State University at Newark hosted its 20th annual Student Research and Scholarship Forum in late March, featuring several student research projects across a variety of disciplines.

This year’s student research forum featured 27 different student presenters sponsored by 18 distinct faculty members from diverse scholarship areas including mathematics education, African American studies, psychology, organic chemistry, biology and ecology.

“I learned so much working on my projects,” says psychology student Molly Rudduck. “Working with faculty on different projects has prepared me for future research after my undergraduate experience. It was the perfect opportunity for undergraduates to exercise their knowledge.”

Alongside providing students the opportunity to engage in meaningful research early in their academic and professional careers, the research forum also provided participating students with a wealth of personal benefits.

The forum also gives students the opportunity to connect with faculty in meaningful, sustained ways. “I'd like to encourage other folks who are interested in going into research to keep an open mind and find someone willing to mentor them,” advises environmental science student Kerianne Bowyer.
