About this event

“Five Mile Lake” is a drama set in Scranton, Pennsylvania, about the complicated relationship between two brothers — one who left home and the other who stayed. Jaime and Mary work at a bakery together; Mary caring for her veteran brother, Danny, while Jaime tends to his ailing mother. Jaime’s brother Rufus returns to their hometown from New York with his girlfriend Peta in hopes of rekindling their strained relationship.

The brothers confront the feeling of time slipping away in this play that explores themes of ambition, conflict, relationships both romantic and familial, PTSD, and the consequence of the choices we make. It also navigates the complexities of home — whether staying, leaving or returning.

Author: Rachel Bonds
