The Ohio State University at Newark

Audition Dates Scheduled

January 7, 2021

The Ohio State University at Newark’s Black Box Theater has announced audition dates for its next production, a reader’s theater performance of Julius Caesar. The production will be recorded via Zoom and available for viewing in April 2021. A tragedy by William Shakespeare first performed in 1599, it is one of four plays written by Shakespeare based on true events from Roman history. Set in Rome in 44 BC, the play depicts the moral dilemma of Brutus as he joins a conspiracy led by Cassius to murder Caesar to prevent him from becoming dictator of Rome. Following Caesar's death, Rome is thrust into a period of civil war, and the republic the conspirators sought to preserve is lost forever.

The play will be directed and edited by Ohio State Newark Senior Lecturer Edie L. Norlin.

Auditions are open to the public and will be virtual by Zoom appointment or video submission only. There will be no in-person auditions. An appointment must be made for a Zoom audition by emailing Norlin at norlin.123@osu.edu. Video auditions must be submitted via email to Norlin.
