Ohio State Newark Graduate Named Exhibits Project Coordinator at Cincinnati Museum Center

NEWARK, Ohio, February 22, 2016 - A graduate of The Ohio State University at Newark was recently named exhibits project coordinator for the Cincinnati Museum Center (CMC). Erica Wainwright, 32, received her Bachelor of Arts in History in 2007.

“CMC is much more than just a museum. It houses incredibly successful exhibitions,” said Wainwright. “My role is to help facilitate meetings between prospective and current clients and the Exhibit Design team, ironing out the details and timeline issues for exhibitions.”

After graduating from Ohio State Newark, Wainwright went on to earn a Master’s of Arts in Public History from Wright State University. She worked with the National Park Service for a few years while completing her degree.

“I got my foot in the door at the Cincinnati Museum Center about three years ago as manager of admissions operations,” said Wainwright. “I took that time to learn as much as I could about the exhibits that CMC housed, traveling and permanent, and built relationships across departments. When the Exhibits Department began to expand, I jumped at the opportunity to join such an exciting and growing team.”

Wainwright said she learned a great deal during her time at Ohio State Newark. She liked the campus because it had all the resources that Ohio State provided, while also having smaller class sizes where students could build personal relationships with professors. Wainwright said she also learned a valuable lesson at Ohio State Newark that has helped her get where she is today.

“I really learned to develop relationships at Ohio State Newark. The experts will always tell you how important networking is, and I usually ignored that advice,” said Wainwright. “However, I have to admit that they were right. Often it’s as simple as chatting in the elevator or saying ‘hello.’ When a position that you’re interested in becomes available, having that hiring manager think that you’re a pleasant person, and that you would probably be easy to work with, is a great asset. You’ve already established a confident first impression.”

The Ohio State University at Newark offers the best of the Big Ten educational experience, access to Ohio State’s more than 200 major programs, a rich research heritage and academic excellence.
