About this event

Please join the Office of Student Life during Suicide Prevention Awareness Month for Walk for Tomorrow. This is an event to remember those we have lost to suicide. It is also an opportunity to receive education and information about how to help those who might be struggling with their mental health.

The walk is a two-mile loop comprised of several stations along the way, including 132 pinwheels that represent the number of suicides in the United States each day, messages of hope, a suicide education station, a relaxation station, a refreshment station, and a candlelight vigil at the end of the walk.  Signs will be posted along the way outlining the warning signs of suicide as well as bios of those lost to suicide.

This event is free and open to all students, staff and faculty and their friends. Participants receive a water bottle and bandana commemorating the occasion.

For more information, contact Coryn Gonzales.

About this event

Story

Aspiring young architect Willum Cubbert has often told his friends about the debt he owes to Rick Steadman, a fellow ex-GI whom he has never met but who saved his life after he was seriously wounded in Vietnam. He has written to Rick to say that, as long as he is alive, “you will have somebody on Earth who will do anything for you” — so Willum is delighted when Rick shows up unexpectedly at his apartment on the night of his 34th birthday party. But his delight soon fades as it becomes apparent that Rick is a hopeless “nerd” — a bumbling oaf with no social sense, little intelligence and less tact.

And Rick stays on and on, his continued presence among Willum and his friends leading to one uproarious incident after another, until the normally placid Willum finds himself contemplating violence — a dire development which, happily, is staved off by the surprising “twist” ending of the play.

Author: Larry Shue

“The play is presented through special arrangement with Dramatist Play Service.”
