About this event

Buckeye Kickoff is an Ohio State tradition you do not want to miss. Join your fellow Buckeyes in Ohio Stadium to enjoy and experience Buckeye Spirit. With many speakers, cheers, and songs this event will be able to kick off your OSU experience. The program will feature Ohio State athletes, The Ohio State University Marching Band, and many more. There will also be an opportunity for you to take photos on the field!

Attendance is limited to current Ohio State University students with a valid BuckID. 

Free round-trip transportation from Newark to Columbus. Register for transportation.

4:30 p.m. Bus departs Newark
5:30 p.m. Doors open
6 p.m. Event begins

About this event

This event is for incoming freshmen. Registration is encouraged. 

The Convocation program will begin at 10:15 a.m. in the John and Mary Alford Performing Arts Hall (auditorium). 

Following Convocation, join us for a “Convocation Luau” with food and games on the lawn. To receive extra credit for your EXP 1100.01 course, visit the advising meet-and-greet tent at the picnic. 

You’re encouraged to wear Buckeye gear.

What is Convocation?

Convocation is the official welcome event at Ohio State for first-year students. You will hear from faculty, staff and student leaders while being introduced to some time-honored university traditions. Convocation is the first of many memorable moments for you at Ohio State and the only time prior to graduation that the entire class is gathered.
